I didn’t start really taking care of my skin until I was in my mid-twenties. I thought everything was a gimmick and didn’t really understand the importance of taking care of your skin (especially with hydration and SPF!!!). As I’ve gotten more and more into skincare, I’ve realized what my skin needs and what it doesn’t. So let’s get into my current skincare routine from start to finish!
Over the years (and as I’ve gotten older), I’ve realized that my skin doesn’t need much. I know that makes me VERY lucky, but after speaking with my dermatologist the only thing my skin TRULY needs is: hydration, retinol, and SPF. In the morning, I like to focus on getting my skin hydrated and glowy (and prepped for make up if needed). At night, I focus on heavier product, masks, and active ingredients.
Current Skincare Routine
Morning Skincare Routine
Step 1: Cleanse
Since I have pretty dry skin all year round, I don’t wash my face in the morning. But when I do wash my face I switch between Youth To The People’s Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser and La Roche Posay’s Gentle Facial Cleanser (if my skin is especially irritated/dry). I simply splash my face with cold water to get rid of any excess product from my nighttime routine.
Step 2: Tone
After pat drying my skin, I use CeraVe’s Hydrating Toner. My skin typically has some dry patches, so I feel like this helps and I love that it’s so affordable.
Step 3: Serum
Next, I use U Beauty’s Resurfacing Compound. I plan on doing a complete review of U Beauty because I’m actually blown away by their products. The Resurfacing Compound takes the place of EIGHT (!!!) products which is insane.
Step 4: Moisturize
I let that settle in a bit, go get my morning coffee started, and then come back to apply my moisturizer. I swap between MDSolarSciences Daily Perfecting Moisturizer w/ SPF 30, La Roche Posay Double Repair Face Moisturizer, and U Beauty’s Super Hydrator.

Evening Skincare Routine
Step 1: Cleansing Balm
I’ve been trying to get better about double cleansing, so I started using this balm at night.
Step 2: Cleanse
After that, I use either the YTTP or La Roche Posay mentioned above.
Step 3: Serum
After that, I’ll use Drunk Elephant’s B-Hydra serum, a Soothing & Barrier Support serum. Then I’ll finish off with some Squalane and the Super Hydrator from U Beauty.

Step 4: Mask
When it’s a mask night I’ve been loving this hydration mask and this viral sheet mask that you leave on overnight (I actually haven’t slept with mine yet, I just start my nightly routine very early, ha).
Step 5: Red Light
I also try to use my LED red light mask a couple times a week. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money, and I thought this one was reasonably priced with good reviews. To be completely honest, I don’t know if it works. Everyone I follow that I trust their skincare recs have talked about the benefits of red light therapy. So I’m going to continue to use it!
Step 6: Lip Treatment
I finish everything off with U Beauty’s Lip Plasma (don’t forget to use code DANA20 at checkout!) or Rhode’s Peptide Lip Treatment. I love a little glaze on the lip while still getting tons of hydration – so these products are so elite for me!
